Cummings Announces New Dr. Salvatore Pizzo Awards for Residents/Fellows & Faculty

Two new awards will be presented at the Resident and Fellow Graduation Dinner next year. Many thanks to Dr. Sara Jiang for her vision and to Dr. Jiaoti Huang for supporting and encouraging this effort to encourage resident research.  One award will be “Best research project by a resident or fellow”, to be nominated and voted by faculty. The second award will be “Mentoring award for a faculty member mentoring trainee research” nominated and voted by trainees. The awards are named for Distinguished Professor of Pathology Salvatore Pizzo, MD, PhD, who served as long-time Chair of the Pathology Department and who has had a distinguished career in research and in mentoring countless pathology residents, fellows, and medical scientists. The Pizzo Awards will join the Dr. Edward Bossen Award for the best resident grand rounds presentation, the William D. Bradford Award for the best resident or fellow teacher, and the Bernard F. Fetter Teaching Award for faculty.
