AAMC Recognizes Bean for Contributions to LEAD

Sarah Bean, MD

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) recently recognized Sarah Bean, MD for her contributions to the AAMC’s Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate Program.

Dr. Bean is currently serving as a LEAD National Coach in the first-ever national offering of this reputable leadership program, designed to build the skills needed to become a transformational leader in health professions education. Dr. Bean’s role involves working closely with a group of this year’s LEAD Fellows to help them learn and apply the leadership theories and concepts taught in the program.

The LEAD Certificate Program was developed in 2009 and implemented in the AAMC’s Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA). The program continued to experience growth and increased alignment with the AAMC. It is now being delivered by the AAMC as a one-year, cohort-based, national (vs. regional) leadership development certificate program.

Dr. Bean completed the LEAD fellowship program in 2016 in the SGEA cohort.  She then served as LEAD faculty for the SGEA cohort in 2016 and 2017.
